Attack on Sankatmochan

Even Hanuman could not save his devotees from the pressure cooker bombs. Blood flowed freely in the Sankatmochan temple of Benaras.

Hanumanji is Vidyavan, Guni and very smart. Most of his devotees are not all that smart though. They should have sensed the impending doom after having watched huge and belligerent demonstrations all over the country over the Bush visit and the Danish cartoons of prophet Mohammad. Except Bal Thakare, none really sounded the warning bells. Thakare has good experience of street politics. He has not lost the knack to judge certain ground realities in spite of his age and failing health.

The idiots in the media will certainly talk about communal harmony. They have to project a pacifist image. The guys and girls in NDTV also have to perform the PR job for Sonia and the Congress party. They can do this by painting Advani, Thakare, and Togadia as rabidly communal who play politics over human tragedies.

It will be unfortunate, dangerous, and disastrous if we allow the real issues to be ignored and obscured by the puerile media reportage of the events that have been unfolding of late.

Protest demonstrations by the Muslim community of India are nothing new. Fridays are always considered some sort of a D Day by the local law and order machinery. Who knows what the hotheads in the community may do after listening to a zordaar lecture by one of the maulanas. However, the nature of protest demonstrations against the Danish cartoons and the Bush visit was very different. The maulanas reacted to the cartoon issue a bit too late, as if they were nudged by some invisible hand to do so. They were kept wide-awake during the Bush visit. They gave their call in time. This time the demonstrations were well organised and they definitely had a pan-Islamic content and character. However, there was nothing spontaneous about them.

Those who can fathom the far-reaching repercussions of these events are rightly alarmed. Something is cooking somewhere. And there is nothing communal about it any more. It is dangerously political.

We must stop terming the killing of innocent Indians and Hindus in terrorist acts as senseless violence. These are carefully planned political acts with definite motives and there has to be a political response to it.
Absence of such response will embolden the elements that wish to change the nature of Indian Islam and throw this country into a hellish inferno of perpetual violence and bloodshed. Those who are tacitly and deliberately encouraging this trend are not the Urdu-speaking rabble-rousing maulanas. They are an educated lot and they have a well-defined and calculated agenda. They are only using the hotheads in the community as fodder to serve their much larger and devastatingly divisive ends.

So, let every Hindu and true Indian rise and protest strongly over what happened in the holiest of our holy cities and send a clear message that such acts will neither be accepted nor tolerated. Doing this may not nip the mischief in the bud any more though. It can contain it for a while as a kind of minimum deterrent.

There is only one permanent solution to the problem, reformation and refinement of the mindsets that do not believe in peaceful co-existence of all humans. That would actually mean Hinduising the Marxists, the Islamists, the Market Theorists, the Catholics, the Protestants, the Media, and a whole lot of other zealots. Can it be done? Impossible. It is a utopian idea that can only be bought by stupid peace pigeons, poets, cowards, and lazy bums.
What do you do then? You must have a strategy in place. The Hindus must unite and assert themselves politically. If the UP and the central government seemed exercised about the attack in Varanasi for a few days, it was because of their fear that the BJP may exploit the situation and the polity may get polarised on communal lines; this drove them to act promptly. The response was instant. In one night, three dreaded Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (L-e-T) terrorists were shot dead as if the police teams were waiting for the blasts to happen before killing them. Surprisingly, the media and the NHRC are silent on this. They would have reacted differently if the Gujarat police had acted so promptly.

The TV media creates an impression that the Hindus may react violently and target the Muslims after terrorist attacks. On the contrary, the Hindus have never looked at a terrorist attack in communal terms, 1984 being an exception when the secular Congress engineered the massacre of the hapless Sikhs by using the lowly lumpen among Hindus. It was a dirty deed aimed at driving a wedge between the Sikhs and other Hindus to reap electoral dividends.

Some Congresswalas referred to the statement of  Veerbhadra Mishra, the mahant of Sankatmochan, and his appeal for peace and non-politicisation of the attack. Javed Akhtar also wrote about the erudition of the mahant and his secular views. Everyone knows that Mishra is a sucker for celebrity. He feels more cultured and elitist in the presence of the likes of Javed Akhtar. He is one of the fake peace pigeons among Hindus. His sense of history and culture is confined to organising classical music and dance Melas and Ganga Bachao Abhiyan. Let us not get befooled by the useless appeals of the politically irrelevant media personalities. If these attacks and issues are not politicised, Hindu victims of terrorist attacks will not even get a penny in compensation. Thanks to the BJP and the VHP, the death of Hindus in terrorist attacks is considered a serious matter that can have wide-ranging political and electoral ramifications. This was the reason Mulayam quickly granted five lakhs of rupees to the relatives of the dead in Lucknow and Varanasi lest people started calling him Maulana Mulayam yet again.

Let us not get misled by the ‘Hindu Muslim Bhai Bhai’ rhetoric and drama of sundry secularists either. Let us ask as to why they fear a united Hindu body politic. Why do we keep hearing that those who are working for the political unity of the Hindus are trying to divide the nation? The BJP and its allies are ruling in Bihar, MP, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnatak, Jharkhand, Chatteesgarh, and in a North Eastern state. The Muslims are certainly not at the receiving end in these states. In fact, they may even be getting a better deal than elsewhere in the country. The Muslims in Maharashtra got the best deal while the Shiv Sena and the BJP were in power in the state. Today the political brokers are having a ball in the name of the community.
There is one more point we must ponder over.

The attack at the Sankatmochan temple and the killing of twenty devotees is already a dead story for the media whereas the Gujarat tape continues to be played under one pretext or another. In fact, some TV News Channels have started carrying reports of how the Muslims of India are discriminated against and oppressed and how they need to be supported and sympathised with, in all possible ways.

The deputy Home Minister Jaiswal was also seen on TV advocating job reservations for Muslims on the same grounds on which the SCs, the STs, and the OBCs have been accorded this privilege. The guy is out of his mind. The SCs and the STs were given reservations (by upper caste Hindus) because for thousands of years they had suffered the rigid interpretation and perpetration of caste based untouchability, socio-economic discrimination, and exploitation. The case of the Muslims and the Christians of India is just the opposite. They constituted the most preferred and pampered class for more than nine hundred years of foreign rule. In fact, the situation has not changed much. They still own the best of the properties and real estate and the sympathy of the media. They practice legalized discrimination in the institutions and establishments run by them. Some among them also feel that they taught the Hindus basic civic sense (Tehzeeb). They claim that without their help, Hindus would still be shitting in open fields and eating chapattis and ghaas-phoos.
How do you deal with the hard-headedness of suave and sophisticated zealots who use the media to spread canards, and to confuse the essentially ultra-liberal Hindu mind? They seem to be winning the mind game and succeeding in giving the majority community a guilt conscience.

Beware all ultra-liberal Hindus! Complacency would do you no good. India is the only land you can call your own. Make sure that you do not get politically marginalized in spite of being the majority community in this land. It has happened in the past. For more than 900 hundred years you have been under the political domination of religious bigots who destroyed temples and treated you as second rate citizens. Learn some lessons from your history for God’s sake. Be assertive. Understand the politics of a celebrity driven media and the secularists. Read between the lines. The campaign and conspiracy to undermine the Hindus politically is very well orchestrated and executed by hard-core professionals. Bury all caste and regional differences whenever there is an attack on the symbols and institutions of your community and protest in unison.

Next time when a temple is attacked or any of your religious leaders is maltreated, rise up, and resist. Make yourself heard clearly. Question the media and all the shit it purveys day in and day out about those who stand up for the Hindu cause. Get political.

And remember, it is the celebrity secularists, the Marxists, the Congress Party, the Jihadis, and the Church who thrive on the politics of perpetual hate that is inherent to their credo and philosophy. They hate everyone who does not concur with their point of view. They have never believed in dialogue and have silenced, marginalized, and eliminated the dissidents, intellectually and physically.
