PRgiri of Dutts touches a new low
They almost got Sanjay Dutt acquitted with their Public Relations stratagems. This time they have stooped to the ultimate depths of lowliness. They have used the letter of Richa Sharma’s daughter Trishla in a last-ditch effort to boost their PR campaign. It is so reprehensible and repulsive. One should ask the Dutt family as to where were they when Trishla’s mother was dying of cancer? The Dutt family, for reasons better known to them, had abandoned Richa Sharma, Trishla’s mother, in her moments of need.
And today they are using Trishla as a PR tool to generate sympathy for Sanju Baba. They are giving away her personal letters, written to her father advising him not to get swayed by his female friends, for the media’s consumption. This is so cheap and despicable.Fourteen years ago, the late Sunil Dutt tried his best to subvert the judicial process and save his son. The repeal of TADA by the then Narsimha Rao government was largely due to the efforts of the senior Dutt. He also managed to have the special bench of the Supreme Court hear Sanjay Dutt’s case a number of times to create grounds for his release on bail. It is a fact that specific changes in the TADA Act were introduced to ensure Sanjay Dutt’s release. The then judge of the Special TADA Court, J.N. Patel, while signing Sanjay Dutt’s bail orders, also released other accused on bail. He was so pissed off and disgusted by the special treatment being given to Sanjay Dutt that he lost all interest in the case. Now it has also been discovered that the late Narsimha Rao tried to advise Patel to drop the TADA charges. Patel refused to do so. This probably was the reason to shift him from the TADA court in the guise of promoting him as a High Court judge. Now, we also know that the specific charge of ‘waging a war against the state’ was dropped at the behest of the Narsimha Rao government though the Mumbai police had included it in the original charge sheet. Who prompted Delhi to do that? Must be the same guy who was accusing Sharad Pawar, the then CM, of conspiring to get his innocent son implicated in the Bomb Blast case. This guy also refused to fight the parliamentary elections to send a message to his party that he feels slighted and sidetracked and without him the party cannot expect to get the Muslim votes in Maharashtra.
What were these serial bomb blasts if not an attack on our nation with the active support of the sworn enemies of the Indian state?
Judge Kode has done a great favour to Sanjay Dutt by keeping him out of the TADA purview. Had TADA been applied to his case, he would have been handed out a life term, or a death sentence. We have to see if Ujjwal Nikam and the prosecuting agencies will appeal against Kode’s judgement. They will have to.
If they don’t, the whole case will fall flat on its face in the Supreme Court. Almost all the accused will go scot-free and the Mumbai police will get a ‘thenga’ as their sole achievement. Every other convict in the case is going to use Sanjay Dutt’s remission from TADA as an example and seek similar relief from the Supreme Court. And who knows, the highest court in the land may oblige under the pressure of celebrity secularists and their media power. We have to see what the Supreme Court does now. It has gone out of its way to provide relief to Sanjay Dutt in the past. The SC judges can be very sensitive to media reports and they tend to take things personally these days. They may take suo moto cognizance of the case and release Sanju Baba on bail. These judges can do anything... invent specious arguments, and give twisted interpretations of the law to suit their whims, fancies, and ultra-poetic sensibilities. It is quite possible that the government wants to kill the case to avoid the wrath of the Muslims in the next elections. The Muslim vote is so important electorally, thanks to the fragmented Hindu votes. Hats off to Indian democracy; even terrorists are an important vote bank and political parties are ready to do anything to get their support to stay in power. Why were the Sikh terrorists not given such kid-glove treatment? Is it because the Sikhs don’t have electoral value beyond the boundaries of Punjab?
Look at the way the Muslim intelligentsia and the likes of Javed Akhtar have reacted to the judgment. They are very upset and bitter over the death sentences awarded to the Muslim goons and traitors. They are raking up the Sri Krishna Commission report and deliberately connecting the bomb blasts to the riots. They are justifying the blasts as a valid reaction to the riots. And they are not talking about punishing all rioters. They are surmising that only Muslims suffered during those riots. That is pure bullshit. Muslim goons also killed an equal number of Hindus, brutally and systematically. Nobody talks about this while they use a joke of a one sided enquiry report to express solidarity and sympathy with the planners and perpetrators of the biggest terrorist act of the world prior to 9/11.
Judge Kode has tried his best to demonstrate that he has been even-handed and as harsh with the Hindus among the accused, as with the Muslims. Why? To appease the Islamist lobby? Poor Hindus who were involved in merely carting out the bags of RDX and arms, without being aware of their deadly content, were in no way part of the conspiracy; yet they have been treated as co-conspirators and given harsh punishments. None even bothers to talk about it. However, Mahesh Bhatt and Javed Akhtar are crying their hearts out for the Memons. The big truth is that Sanjay Dutt was a part of the conspiracy for the simple fact that he was aware that a huge quantity of hand grenades, AK 56 guns, and all kinds of arms and ammunitions were being distributed around Mumbai.
He knew who was doing it and that something very big and devastating was underway. Yet, he did not go to the police. He didn’t go to the police even after the blasts and the killings at Mahim where hand grenades and AK 56 rifles were used. He kept mum while large caches of arms, ammunitions, and deadly RDX (in tonnes) were being unearthed everywhere and it had become evident as to who were behind the blasts. That is Sanju Baba’s sense of patriotism and national duty.
If that was not all, even after coming out of jail, he kept in touch with goons like Shakeel. These goons and their cohorts address him as Sanju Baba and treat him differentially. He would give certificates of good conduct to Bollywood actors and act as a conduit to get reprieve for those Bollywood personalities who were threatened by underworld kingpins. Have we forgotten the free- flowing telephonic conversation his friends and he had with Chota Shakeel from a Shirdi hotel? And when Sanju Baba was caught, his celebrated father flaunted his own patriotic deeds of the past to have his son released. A massive propaganda blitzkrieg was let loose highlighting how Nargis and Sunil Dutt had visited border areas to entertain our troops during the1962 Indo-China war. File photos of Sanju Baba as a little kid sitting in the lap of his mother were splashed all over the newspapers. The heart-rending old sound recordings of Nargis’s advice to her young son from her deathbed were played and replayed by the media. Every trick of the trade was used to get him out. And they got him out finally. Had Sunil Dutt been alive today, Sanjay Dutt would not have been convicted. His influential and well-connected father would have turned the world upside down to keep him out of jail. Look at the way Kode treated him. He called the celebirity convict in his chamber to apply the balm of solace. An unusual if not unprecedented gesture. The juvenile TV News media has gone berserk. It has no sense of proportion. It deliberately ignores facts. Look at the way they analyse and present the case, providing valuable PR support to the perpetrators of a crime that killed more than two hundred innocent civilians of India.
And the community of donkeys, the Bollywood brigade, the insidious blot on the good name of cinema, are busy braying, wailing, and breast-beating in chorus, as if they have been orphaned without their Sanju Baba. Film premieres are being cancelled to support his cause. Will they go off booze and boobs too to express true solidarity with Sanju Baba?
Why cannot they show this solidarity in opposing the proposed Broadcast and Content Regulation Bill and stand in unison to demand the death of the CBFC regime? The idiots, the pathetic pigmies, won’t do it because it makes no difference to them. They are so pitiable that given a chance they may make a film called ‘Salembhai Lage Raho’, portraying Abu Salem, the piddly don, as a guy who helps struggling starlets and film producers to realize their sadela dreams. The new darling of the media, Monica Bedi, will be the female lead of the film of course.RKS
