Vajpayee out, it is time for the BJP and the Sangh Parivar to regain the lost groundThe first truly non Congress Prime Minister of this country has been voted out of power. Why? Because people prefer the real thing to a clone. The BJP presented him to the people as its trump card which he was not. He was not even a good leader. He had always led the BJP to defeat. He also lacked the vision to transform a government as an instrument of change.
Vajpayee had sensed his defeat midway during the election process.
It is not hard to discern these kind of things if you have been addressing countless public meetings across the nation since the last fifty years. That is why he looked defeated after filing his nomination paper. Since he has very limited strength of will or character, he went downhill after having discovered that the audiences were not with him. He started fumbling and forgetting his lines. Good actors have the capacity to enthuse and draw the audiences out even in daunting conditions. They improvise and ad-lib. They draw upon their inner strengths and deliver one punch after another and floor their audiences. They know how to get them (the audience) on their feet for standing ovations.
He could not perform when it came to the crux.
He had never done it in his political life. He could not do it this time either. However, he had to distance himself from the impending defeat and he started talking about his last election and retirement. Had he known that the position of his party in UP and Bihar was not all that bad, he would have been an enthusiastic participant in the process, in the hope that he might create a record of being sworn in as the PM four times. He had always been a fair weather friend of his party and a typical pseudo conscientious renegade.
He could not even defend his own Parivar.
All through his tenure as the PM, the Sangh Parivar was under vicious attack by the Secularists, Islamists, and the Communists. He was the most credible face of the Parivar. He should have defended it. However, he refused to do so. He did not want his image to be sullied in the eyes of a partisan media and the likes of Mahesh Bhatt and Javed Akhtar. He must have felt that the goodwill earned in this manner will come in handy later. He could not even have a heart to heart dialogue with his colleagues. That could have helped. Better strategies could have been put in place. This way he proved himself to be useless for the Parivar that helped him realize the ambition of his life. In fact, they sacrificed their all for him. They got nothing in return. He had no stake in their future. He had not built great organizations like the ABVP, the BMS, and the rest. He did not really care if they got discredited. It is he who did them in. He never ever stood by them. He allowed the impression to gather ground that he was against whatever they say or do. Where is ABVP today? None hears anything about the BMS. The VHP is branded by the media as an organization of fanatics. And that great movement that almost united the faction ridden Hindu community, the Ram Janmbhoomi movement, has become an issue that is being made fun of by the likes of Govinda, the failed and demented actor, the new adapted son of Sonia, the stooge of the church.
Now, who is going to bear the brunt of oppression that is going to be unleashed by the Congress, the Church, the Secularists, and the Communists?
The Sangh Parivar is in for very bad and bitter times ahead. Vajpayee will retire now. His job is done. He will no more be called the future PM. He is India's ex-PM now with all the perks that go with it, including a well furnished seven bedroom house. What will he do during his retirement? Dip his pen in the ink of his media image and write poetry? What could be the subject of his poetry? Certainly, his doddering and degraded self.
Geet naya gaata hoon
Chal nahin pata hoonMurg tikke aur jalebiayan
Plate mein saze huey
Bistar par pade pade
Kha raha hoon main unhe
Kalam phir uthata hoon
Khud ki he daavaat mein
Phir use doobata hoonGeet naya gata hoon
Khud ko hi sunata hoonThe great proponent of democracy could not even utter a single word against the treatment meted out to his allies by Jayalalita. Why? He had a majority in the parliament. Why did he keep mum? Simply because he was not actually pained by all this. He betrayed his own allies. However, he worked hard at maintaining his respectable facade. It was just a facade. People showed respect to him because he was in the chair. From sundry industrialists to filmmakers and armchair politicians, this lot will veer around anyone who gives them free gifts.
What went wrong? Why did the NDA loose? Did it deserve this fate? Yes, it did.
The Congress won by default similarly as the BJP won by default in the Congress ruled states.
The fact is that both these political parties are totally disconnected from the people. They don't know what is happening on ground. Had the Congress known this, it would have succeeded in saving itself from defeat in all the states ruled by it. The defeat of the Congress in Kerala is unprecedented. It has lost in Karnataka. It is decimated in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Chatteesgarh. It has lost in UP. It has very little to cheer about in Bihar. It has lost seats in the Northeast.
Who has done better?
The left parties, Lalu Yaadav, Mulayam Singh, and Mayavati have improved and consolidated their position. These were the parties who were least talked about. They were hardly bothered about their media image. They spent very little money on TV advertising. We rarely saw journalists covering their rallies and meetings. The BSP used just one chopper for the campaigning by its supreme leader. Those who felt that the elections are won by hype and media coverage should learn their lessons here. The hype and hoopla may make some party workers feel good and great. As far as the voters are concerned, they hardly care for what NDTV or Star News have to say. They do care to elect those who they feel would look after their interests better. Lalu, after having sensed the public mood during Advani's Bharat Uday Yaatra, decided to stay put in Bihar. He worked hard at consolidating his caste and community votes. So did Mulayam and Mayavati. They all worked very hard. The communists have always been working hard. These leaders are always on their toes, assiduously creating new vote banks and consolidating their hold. On the other hand the known leaders of the BJP, once in power, get out of touch with the people. They prefer to befriend the elite and keep themselves away from the grime and dust of hard core political activism. They turn into hovering dogs. One recalls Lalu's conversation with Rajdeep Sardesai of NDTV. Lalu had just finished his antic filled speech and was flying to another venue. Rajdeep tried to imply that Lalu makes the people of Bihar dance to his tune by his antics. Lalu rebuked Rajdeep. He said that the people were not fooled by antics. They know everything. They don't vote because someone makes them laugh. They can teach a few lessons to the smart ass politicians and turn them into 'Charwahas'(sheperds).
Look at Vajpayee. What is his achievement?
His contribution to the growth of the BJP and other Sangh Parivar outfits has been zero. He never soiled his hands. He did not trouble his brain much either. He could not even consolidate some Brahmin votes behind the BJP. The upper caste vote bank has slipped out of the BJP fold now in UP and Bihar. The BJP organization has always suffered under his leadership. The Sangh Parivar has also been hurt greatly because of Vajpayee's betrayals. All that liberal image projection has not succeeded in bringing in a single Muslim vote to his party. At most, the Shias of Lucknow vote for Vajpayee since they get largesse from him. He put his image and himself above everything else. He almost compromised the national interests in Agra summit with Musharraf. Today he is not the PM. He is useless for the party now since he cannot even deliver a good speech any more. The BJP will have to reinvent itself. The king has retired and the subjects who made him the king are left high and dry. That is the essential difference between the Congress and the BJP. The Congressmen use Nehru dynasty to be in power, Vajpayee rode piggyback over the shoulders of his party to become the PM.
What did his government do?
Here too he followed the easiest course. Every decision taken by his government was either prompted by the media or by the money bags. He followed policies and programmes that were remnants of the discredited Congress regimes. He had no vision. He endorsed the warped, cruel, and unreal vision of Convent educated guys like Arun Shourie. The voices of the ordinary masses were not even heard in Vajpayee durbar. What did Vajpayee say in his election speeches? Nothing. Half of the time he would dwell on the Congress and rest on his retirement plans and why he decided to lead his party in these elections. The people and their real concerns did not figure in his scheme of things. He could not communicate with people. He did yet another disservice to his party in the process. He promoted nitwit media bombasts like Rajeev Pratap Rudy and Ravi Shankar Prasad in the party hierarchy. These guys always believed in promoting themselves, not by hard work but by hanging around the top leadership and by pontificating all kinds of preposterous half cooked jargon ridden theories and views on TV channels in their third class English. Most of the time these guys did not even know what they were talking about. They were all mediocre, vision less talkers like Vajpayee himself.
Now is the time to regroup and reorganize.
The Sangh Parivar has to get down to some hard work. It has to reorient its strategy to the realities of changing times. The focus should be on the people. The care and concern for an ordinary Indian should act as the driving force. It is going to be a tough task, away from media glare, in villages and towns and in the hinterland. There will be many hurdles. The Church and the leftist NGO's will squeeze the Parivar's sources of funding. One by one all the BJP governments will be pulled down. It may begin with Goa, Arunachal, and Chateesgarh. These are vulnerable states. Gujarat will follow. Even the seemingly secure state governments in MP and Rajasthan will be disturbed. One wishes that the Congress dismisses the Jayalalita government too. That will be a boon in disguise. It will pave the way for the downfall of the Congress. The Congress and Communist combination has always gone after the Sangh Parivar with vengeance. The hard headed Italian stooge of the church will be very vicious while acting under the expert guidance of the Padres. All Sangh Parivar NGO's will be systematically targeted. The RSS may even be banned. The BJP must pit Sushma, Uma Bharati, and Vasundhara against Sonia now. They must get cracking now.
The best that can happen to the BJP is installation of Sonia as the PM.
It will be a repulsive deed on the part of the Congress and the Communists, the elite of Indian politics. No self-respecting Indian can digest this. It will showcase the contempt of these parties to the idea of India as a nation. This will be the time for the VHP to come out of its hibernation. Sadhwi Reetambharas should re-emerge on the scene. This should be a relentless struggle fought with inner conviction. All the BJP leaders should go back to the grime and dust political activism. There can be more fun in this. If they cannot do this, they should retire from the arena like Vajpayee. New blood will flow and revive a moribund BJP organization, probably imbued by strong convictions.
A few words about the likes of Chandrshekhar and V.P. Singh.
Chandrashekhar and V. P. Singh suddenly became very talkative after the defeat of the NDA. The former gave a long speech about the fall from grace of Vajpayee. Chandrshekhar is a fountainhead of corruption. In his brief tenure as the PM he was busy cornering agencies of ONGC, Thums Up, and Hero Honda for his friends and relatives and amassing hundreds of acres of land under various trusts governed by his family and him. He was always a fixer and an agent of industrialists. He became super rich during his PMship. He stands nowhere in comparison to Vajpayee in moral stature.
As far as V. P. Singh is concerned, he was always a Jaychand and will remain one. Rajeev Gandhi gave him this title. It is the likes of him that have always betrayed this nation. Today, he wants to see an Italian as the PM. This is typical nature of Jaychands and turncoats. After they betray their nation and clan, they become a hated lot. People spit at them. However, when they get an opportunity, they strike back. V.P. Singh is doing just that. This bastard wants the whole country to be humiliated, the country that rejected him once for his rank divisive politics. The leftists also fall in this category. They want the nationalists to feel humiliated and that is why they are pitching for the corrupt Italian.
They are mistaken. People will not digest this humiliation for long. They will give a fitting reply to these turncoats. Let Sonia become the PM and then we would know how big was this issue.
The Congressmen would cut jokes that the BJP's main concern are Janmbhoomis, either of Sonia's or of Ram. It would sound very funny to some. It won't be so after the reality of the swearing in of Sonia will dawn on the nation. Will the nation digest this reality?
This writer won't, in spite of constitutionally correct arguments of V. P. Singh, Chandrshekhar, Surjeet, Basu, Lalu, Mulayam, Mayavati, and the rest. Those who would feel happy about it, should all be put in the category of Jaychands. This will be the last nail in the coffin of the Congress. The true nationalists must take a vow that they will do their best to bury the ghost of the Congress and all the Jaychands forever as they have tinkered with the pride of a great nation. They must work hard, at the grass roots, to ensure this. They must unite the whole nation yet again.
The sad part is that there was this so called nationalist called Atal Bihari Vajpayee who paved the way for a third rated Italian to become the Prime Minister of India by his ineptness. The nation will not forgive him for this. His name should also appear in the list of Jaychands.
This time opposition to a foreigner will not be an election issue. It will be the issue of regaining the lost pride of every Indian and avenging the humiliation heaped on us by a bunch of Jaychands.
Every Indian including Christians, Muslims, Yaadavs, Shudras, Vaishys, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, the untouchables and the touchables, from the South and the North and from the East to the West, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and from Raipur to Raibariely, should be part of this unrelenting process. We must not stop till the goal is reached, the goal of throwing the Congress/Communist/Secularist government out of power. Go ahead, register yourself as a voter now to avenge the national humiliation.
