Cowardly MNS goons


They attacked the most vulnerable among the north Indians. Poor taxiwalas, street vendors, and second-class local train commuters. Their faces were covered with cloth and handkerchiefs. They were a handful of guys who were kicking and slapping a heavily outnumbered lonely north Indian, and breaking the glasses of stationary taxis. They had made sure that a camera crew was in attendance, even in a train compartment. They wanted their deeds to be covered by the TV media, however they did not want to be recognized. Someone had told them to be careful. Who knows, the police may be asked to take action based on the TV footage.

This is the character of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) goons. They are doing exactly what the Shiv Sena workers would do earlier, hunting their targeted and isolated victims in large packs and in their own secure dens. They would attack the most vulnerable, the weak, and the poor. What do the leaders and workers of these lumpen political outfits fear the most? Being arrested. They need a definite assurance that the police will remain inactive before they come out on the streets to let loose a barrage of physical violence.

So, now we know for sure that the sporadic incidents of violence against the north Indians of Mumbai were not spontaneous. They were pre-planned and the state government was a part of this conspiracy. They were obviously aimed at trumping up Raj Thakare to cut the Shiv Sena down to size. In fact, MNS was looking for an excuse. The Samajwadi Party rally at Shivaji Park did not actually offer them that excuse since nothing provocative was said or done by the SP workers. Yet the plan had to be implemented in some way or the other.

Most shameful is the behavior of north Indian leaders like Sanjay Nirupam and Kripa Shankar Singh, and our intelligentsia. Mahesh Bhatt was heard pleading for peace with folded hands and on bent knees before Raj Thakare in a TV show. He is the same guy who would fume and fulminate against Modi using a variety of acerbic epithets. R.K. Bajaj of the famous RKB show on Sahara was mollycoddling and trying to placate an obdurate and uncouth MNS leader on his show. This was all so reprehensible and extremely disgusting.

Nobody has condemned these cowardly acts of ugly hyenas in unequivocal terms. The media and others are trying to make it look like an unseemly feud between the Samajwadi Party and MNS and an undeclared war between Raj Thakare and Amitabh Bachhan.

Why is the media not demanding action against these rampaging goons who can be recognized in the TV footage?  Why are their faces not being circled and shown repeatedly? Let their Marathi mothers know how cowardly are their fat and well-fed sons, who attack and terrorize helpless taxiwalas and poor vendors. Why is it not being treated as seriously as the Marriot molestation case?

What can be more shameful for this nation than an Indian being targeted and hounded like this in his own country? Those who are responsible for this should not only be put behind bars but tried for treason and publicly hanged from the nearest poll. Every Indian should enjoy the freedom to go anywhere in this country in search of livelihood or peace. And if anyone dares to raise even a small finger at them calling them outsiders, exemplary punishment should be meted out to such political outfits and people. There cannot be any compromise on this. And in whichever state it happens, the government of that state should be immediately dismissed and the police officers who collude with the mischief mongering goons should be sacked and jailed.

The fact that the police remained a mute witness to such hooliganism, clearly points to the complicity of the state government in this nefarious plan of MNS and Raj Thakare. The Vilasrao and R.R. Patil government must go. Vilasrao has lost his right and capacity to be the Chief Minister of an Indian state. He has aided and abetted these cowardly criminals. And police commissioner Jadhav must be shown the door immediately. Had the police acted, MNS goons would have been running for cover. They would not have dared to behave like this.

Every argument of MNS and Raj Thakare against the north Indian population of Mumbai is pure bunkum and holds no water. Some people blame the unemployment problem of Mumbai for the lumpenisation of the Maharashtra politics. The jeans clad, and well fed guys with covered faces looked more prosperous than the lean, thin, and emaciated samosa and paani-puri seller who was being thrashed by those despicable cowards. He has not snatched away anyone’s job. He has created a job for himself, by being useful. He has no time for politics and is not part of a goon brigade. He earns an honest living. He is a far better human being than a cheap sadak-chaap politician and a bad cartoonist like Raj Thakare, who neither has an ideology nor character nor acumen to build up a sound political base. And since he only picks on the weak and the helpless, he is anything but a mard maratha.

What is the Prime Minister of this country doing? He should have called Vilasrao Deshmukh to Delhi and taken his pants off for his inaction. What are the BJP and the RSS doing? Why are Advani, Rajnath Singh, Munde, and Gadkari silent on the issue? They have not even issued a statement. If their politics of convenience is the cause of their eloquent silence, they are not true nationalists. They should be ashamed of themselves for this, as they have abandoned the core elements of their ideology. Vajpayee had more guts than Advani. He stood up against the Congress goons who were killing the Sikhs in 1984 on Delhi streets.

And if there is any Maharashtrian who feels proud of what the MNS goons did on February 3 and 4, 2008, he/she dare not call Chatrapati Shivaji, Lokmanya Tilak, and Veer Savarkar as his/her ancestors.
