Mayawati’s ascendance to throne of
UP is not a flash in a panAur ab Dilli door nahin.
It is the victory of hard work, diligence, and a well-defined road map, rooted in strong ideological commitment and convictions, sustained on the ground by smart strategising and tactical manoeuvres. She may become the rallying point for Dalits across the country and there is every probability that she will be the next Prime Minister of India, burying the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi parivaar forever. That will be a very positive and welcome development.
It is remarkable that the darlings of the media are the first to bite the dust. Indians in small villages and kasbahs do not trust the media. They have their well-proven yardsticks to judge their politicians. They can see through various games being played and they do the needful when the time comes. The media rarely covered Mayavati’s rallies. Whereas every other party was busy doing PRbaazi, Mayavati was working hard on her election strategy. She is the only politician who speaks with conviction and her words carry weight. She has acted upon what she has spoken and professed all along. And she should continue to do so since it is a sensible and wise course. She is bridging the caste divide among Hindus amicably and probably will prove to be the most effective Hindu reformer who would succeed in purging the Hindu body politic of the scourge of varna vyvastha. The end of Manuvaad will lead to the regeneration of Hinduism.
She is looking better. She is talking and smiling better. She may even prove to be a better and just ruler. If she does not, it will be entirely her loss. Justice is the most important cornerstone on which a ruler’s throne is propped up. If it is loose and shaky, the throne will be unstable and may even fall with its occupant tumbling down like an empty vessel.
The UP election results are a bigger blow to the BJP than to other parties. It is a dead party in the biggest state of India. Advani and Rajnath Singh should forget about Delhi rule now in their lifetime. And I don’t see any second-rung leaders in this party who can revive its fortunes. Arun Jaitley, Rajeev Pratap Rudi, and Ravi Shankar Prasad types are mere TV debaters and media bombasts. They will also have to face the anti-incumbency factor in the big states like MP, Rajasthan, Bihar, and the rest in the next parliamentary elections. Historically, they are never returned to power, Gujarat being an exception. And who are the people to be blamed for this debacle? The party does not have a single leader who can match the prowess of Mayavati or Mulayam or Lalu in creating a solid support base. They are spineless idiots, and parrots who have been repeating the same old rhetoric without conviction or commitment or will. Call it the Vajpayee effect, which means a lot of gas and no substance. They are more concerned about their stature in the media. Those who are doing better, care a damn for what media says. Mayavati and Narendra Modi are burning examples of that.
Moreover, the BJP guys seem to be the most corruptible and stupid among Indian politicians. They get so easily caught on hidden camera. Their understanding of national and global issues is suspect as well. They cannot even be called leaders because a leader should have followers who respect him and are ready to lay their lives for him or the cause espoused by him.
The BJP and its deranged leaders like Vajpayee and Advani have also destroyed the Sangh Parivar. It is dying and its sphere of influence is shrinking fast. Look at its affiliates like the ABVP and the BMS. They are defunct and rudderless and ideologically bankrut. The only active outfit seems to be the Bajrang Dal. At least we keep hearing about alleged involvement of its men in wanton acts of small-time vandalism. When it will come to the crux, they too will prove incapable and useless. They act as lions in their own safe dens, the BJP-ruled states. Their ideological moorings and convictions are suspect too.
