Sadia is a natural born actress, a rarity these days. She has done a number of films and TV serials in India. She is a TV star. She lived her character in the film, playing the title role. She has also been into Hindi theater. Some people feel that her performance in Laxmi is her best so far.

Suhita Thatte
as Ramabai

Suhita is also from theater. She has been involved with Marathi and Hindi theater of Mumbai for very long. She too has done many films, TV serials, and Ad films. The role of Laxmi's mother Ramabai was a challenging one for her and she has given a performance of life time in the film.

Swati Chitnis
as Jaya Bhave

Swati is a star of Marathi Theatre. People throng to theaters to watch her plays all over Maharashtra, a culturally vibrant province of India. She too has done a number of films and TV serials. She is an accomplished actress. She has done full justice to her limited role of a firebrand activist in the film.
 

Ashok Lokhande
as Kadam

Ashok is a major TV star. He has been part of some very popular Hindi TV programs like 'Saans', 'Just Mohabbat', and Shyam Benegal directed 'Discovery of India'.  He is a trained actor. He has excelled in the role of Kadam, stepfather of Laxmi.
 

Vijay Raaz
as Inspector Sinha

Vijay is another trained actor. He is now well known for his portrayal of the character of flower eating Shukla, the wedding organizer,  in 'Monsoon Wedding'. He is a much sought after actor now. His performance in Laxmi remains his best so far according to those who have been watching his well deserved growth as a professional actor.
 

Aniruddh Agarwal
as the Sheikh

Aniruddh is the most horrible looking face of Film & TV industry of India. None else could have done the role of Sheikh better than him. 'Bandit Queen' was his first feature film where he was adequately noticed. His looks really deceive everyone. He is a very gentle person in real life.
 

Shraddha
as Zeenat

Shraddha was a little known child actor. She was re-discovered in 'Laxmi'. She has more than  matched the high voltage performance of the experienced cast of the film.
