You don't have to cross the LOC to liquidate terrorists
Mr. Advani?

You don't even need POTO to do that.

'We must cross the border and destroy terrorist camps'. Indian politicians of all shapes and sizes, from Mulayam to Malhotra, are speaking with one voice on this. They keep reiterating this rhetoric because they know it is not possible.

LOC is virtually the international border between India and Pakistan, sanctified by Vajpayee, the 'Safed Kabooter' and Jaswant, the eunuch. You cannot expect our leaders, who seek permission from Bush for every action they have to take on military and diplomatic front, to go for this option. The joke is that all of us know the vacuity of such rhetoric but the politicians continue hooting their war cries for the consumption of the media and common Indians.

Our political class is fast becoming a poor and owlish caricature of 'filmy politicians'.

If Advani is really serious about liquidating the terrorists, his best bet lies in doing it on Indian soil. Narsimha Rao did not have to go across the Pak border to finish off militancy in Punjab. He did a very simple thing. He gave the task to some straight thinking, hard working, and smart officers. They worked to a strategy and within a few years Punjab was back on the rails. These guys were not confused about their objectives. They were out to do a job, and they did it unmindful of political fall outs and the clamor for their heads by phony human rights activists of Kuldip Nayar type .

The bane of this government is that it is headed by confused and brain dead politicians who are led by a corrupt and retired 'Naukarshahi' that has no initiative left in its loins. They are a sorry bunch of 'excuse inventors'.

The US marines crossed seven sees to take on Laden? What options Bush had before him to catch the Baap of all terrorists? None, except going to Afghanistan and smoking the fellow out.

We have all the options with us. These terrorists are on our soil. We don't have to smoke them out. We have to surround them in a dragnet and kill them the way we kill mosquitos trapped in 'Machhardanis'. In fact, we should allow the terrorists to come inside our borders. Once inside our borders, they are at our mercy.

This is what can be successfully achieved. However,  rhetoric takes precedence over level headed and hard nosed common sense in this administration.

Advani is again talking about hot pursuits across the border. In fact, phrases like ' pro-active' and ' policy of hot pursuit' were introduced by Advani in our political discourse. These are third rate juvenile ideas in strategic terms. Unfortunately, even the experienced retired Generals and media created strategic thinkers are harping on the same theme. As a result, the real issues are getting side-tracked by unreal, irresponsible, and preposterous rhetoric.

What is the real problem? It is our inability to set things right within our own borders. Our security is lax and inspired by the sleepy PM, the government machinery snores and slumbers while the terrorists and anti national elements have a field day. The corrupt system is bought over by low class Mafia dons like Dawood. We do not have the capacity to identify and weed out the rotten elements in the system. Cheap charlatans among lawyers get the better of conniving and corrupt public prosecutors and police officers. And since December 13th we have also started terming a security foul up as bravery. The lazy bone policemen who ran hither and thither to save themselves when the terrorists started firing were not brave. Those who let them in were damn fools and brought ignominy to the whole police force. One hopes some guy in Delhi police investigates the whole thing and punishes the duty shirkers. However, the greatest duty shirker is Advani who cannot inspire his subordinates to be smart and ever alert and go after the enemies of the nation with vengeance.

What stops Advani from slaying the demon of terrorism on home turf by entrapping it? Nothing but his own incapacity and muddleheadedness. He has not been able to devise a definite and pin pointed policy or plan to deal with this menace. His present policy looks at terrorism as a sociopolitical and religious phenomenon. This legitimizes and emboldens the terrorists. It also puts the Indian state on the back foot and as aresult we see the government doing all kinds of flip flop and thus compounding the problems further.

The nation is made to bear the cost of the bloody mess created by Vajpayee and his government. These uncaring bastards are real murderers of thousands of civilians and army personnel. They make us feel like 'sacrificial goats' and mock us by repeating their empty rhetoric day after day. They have cheapened our lives and have compromised our national pride.

How can we expect this government to tackle the Kashmir problem when it has one of the main architects of a Kashmir policy that has led to the present mess among its most celebrated ministers? George Fernandes, the messiah of peace and a so called Kashmir specialist known for his close ties with the terrorists, set the militancy ball rolling at one point of time and since then the beautiful valley is being drenched in the blood of our Jawans and civilians day in and day out. Ironically, the NDA government also has people like Jagmohan who had tried to evolve a coherent and definite policy to deal with terrorism. The poor fellow is being buffeted around by Vajpayee for doing his job sincerely whatever ministries he is assigned to.

What can you expect from this government whose ministers term a major security lapse as an act of bravery? They try to silence well meaning critics by hiding behind excuses like' if you call what happened at the parliament on the 13th December, 2001, a security lapse, you are demeaning our security forces and their great sacrifice that helped save the nation'. There are other excuses too. 'Look how Americans are united behind Bush'. 'Those who oppose POTO are helping the terrorists'. I am afraid very soon there will be slogans like 'those who oppose Vajpayee are traitors to the nation.'

In fact every move of this government needs to be opposed as in all probability it will lead the nation towards a greater disaster. This is a government of monkeys. Can you give a loaded gun in the hands of a monkey? You cannot. He will first shoot himself in the leg and while jumping up and down in pain may start doing what the panicky attackers of the parliament did, spraying bullets from their AK 47s indiscriminately and killing the unarmed watch and ward staff, and finally getting blown up in the process. Dummy ministers like I.D.Swamy say that the 'Fidayeens'are impossible to be contained.  He almost gives the foolish zealots an aura of invincibility.

How do we solve the problem then? This is a big question. As people we cannot do anything. Once the late JP talked about the electorate's right to recall its representatives. Who do we recall and who do we install? How do we do it? We all feel so defeated and lost.

This is the worse. We may not be defeated by the enemy on  various fronts, economic or military, but our leaders create in us a deep sense of defeat and dispair by their useless rhetoric and misdeeds.

We can still survive the bleeding wounds on our bodies inflicted by enemy bullets, but the indifference, betrayals, and callousness of our political class and elite will choke us to death for sure.
