York / DNN : BREAKING NEWS : Debutant Director Sooni Taraporevala 's
-"Little Zizou" made a BIG impression at the 8th Mahindra Indo -
American Arts Council Film Festival (MIAAC). The movie received Time
Warner Best Screenplay award.
The Film with message of community tolerance is set amidst
Mumbai's Parsi community. The fast-paced &
exuberant yet poignant comedy, is about a young boy whose ardent wish
is for his long-dead mother to bring his idol and French soccer star,
Zinedine Zidane (Zizou), to Mumbai.
Mira Nair's protégé Ms. Taraporevala, who has written the
screenplays for all Nair films, said, 'Little Zizou
is the first non-commissioned script i have written in 20 years. The
script developed organically and quickly within 10 days, because I
didn't have to follow a blueprint."
The film, supported by The Indian Film Company (IFC of TV 18 Group),
with about $ 2 Million investment, has brought 3 childhood friends -
the presenter Mira Nair, director Sooni Taraporevala and co- producer
Dinaz Stafford - together.
Jubilant TV 18 CEO is planning the announcement of a new film with
these three at Goa IFFI 08. He said, 'We are proud at the honors
conferred upon Little Zizou, our maiden international feature
presentation. These honors are indicative of our capability to move
beyond our dominant position in the Hindi movie arena and back quality
English-language content aimed at a global audience.'
Little Zizou features Boman Irani, Sohrab Ardeshir, Shernaz Patel,
Zenobia Shroff, Kamal Sidhu, Dilshad Patel, Iyanah Bativala... and
Jahan Bativala, among others. John Abraham makes a special appearance.
The reliable sources at the Goa Film
Festival informed that the film being showcased in Panorama section is
likely to be attended by the top Parsi community and business leaders
apart from the film's cast and crew.
