"Taliban were too serious about Islam. They practiced bad Islam."
A Kabul Resident"Death to Pakistan".
Kabul is liberated. Liberated from what and whom?
Liberated from tyranny and oppression? It certainly seems so.On the streets of Kabul and various other Afghan cities people shout slogans like 'DEATH TO PAKISTAN', 'Death to general Musharraf'.
The Afghans enjoy the music after all, instead of facing it. They can also watch Indian movies now.
It seems that the Afghans were held hostage by Pakistan for all these years. Taliban was merely a front for the back door proxy rule of Pakistanis.Unfortunately, even today the west is looking at the Afghanistan situation through the eyes of Pakistan. Ten year old examples are sighted to belittle the efforts of the Northern Alliance. This is madness. These are the guys who have dealt a body blow to fanaticism and obscurantism and created grounds for the success of the allied offensive against terrorism and the West and the UN try to deny due credit to them. This has to change if the lasting peace has to return to Afghanistan.
Pakistanis are the real trouble makers. As long as they continue to poke their nose into the affairs of other countries, peace won't prevail in those lands. This rogue state that uses zealots to further its political and military objectives needs to be punished. They can be contained if the US takes them to task.
The US must ask Pakistan to keep its hands off Afghanistan now. Who is Musharraf to decide as to who will rule Afghanistan?
And the foolish CNN reporters should stop showing Pakistanis talking about the goodness of the Taliban. By doing so they are giving a wrong picture to their viewers. They should confine their reportage to the opinion of the people of Afghanistan about who is good for them.
And why the neighbors of Afghnistan should be worried about who rules Afghanistan? Why is this question being raised at all? This is mischief mongering of most devious kind.
Only the US and UN can have some role here, a constructive and humanitarian role for that matter. The US has played a great part in the victory of anti-Taliban forces. I am sure the United Front will not be ungrateful to them.
Bush needs to do one important thing. He should stop funding Pakistanis and start funding the Afghans. They need money to build their country and to shore up their defenses against Pakistan's evil designs. The real evil is Pakistan. If Taliban survives the onslaught of allied forces it will be because of Pakistan. The Pakistanis, as they panic, may start supporting the Taliban covertly to keep it alive to serve their own interests. If Bush is smart enough, he will see through all this.
India too has a role to play, the role to keep Pakistan off the back of Afghani people. Can the Vajpayee government play this role effectively? It seems doubtful. Vajpayee and Jaswant have made India irrelevant to the world community.
Pakistan will be justified to feel panicky. In case a nationalist government succeeds in Afghanistan, Pakistanis will be caught into a pincer movement. They will have very little room for mischief in Kashmir or Kandhar. The bastards who have all along exploited the name of Islam to justify their evil existence, will be in a real jam then. That is where they belong. What Pakistanis have been doing in Kashmir is unpardonable. They have turned this heaven into a hell. Very soon they will be as hated in Kashmir, as they were in Kabul.
The zealots in India who have been beating their chests and crying hoarse condemning the US strikes in Afghnaistan as an attack on Islam should learn their lessons now. 'Quoran' cannot be used as a weapon of war against those who don't share your perspective of life. Those who use it in this manner, demean Islam and the teachings of their prophet. It can at best be used as a weapon against bigotry, hatred, blind ambition, megalomania, and destruction. It should and must be used as a tool of love and peaceful co-existence, among beautiful and hard working humanity. Religion cannot be inflicted on people as a sword or baton. Religion is about unveiling of human personality. It cannot have anything to do with putting veils on charming, lively, and Godly faces.
It is also high time practitioners of 'bad Islam' change their ways before they turn into objects of extreme hatred themselves.
