We have FICCI and CII organizing conventions and seminars in the past. Foundation for Promotion of Film Arts & Crafts organized a film convention last year. The convention was followed up by a festival of Oscar films.FPFAC has well defined objectives. It is organizing India International Film Convention 2004 this year. The convention begins on 6th September and ends on 8th. The program of the convention is imaginatively designed and has a lot to offer to the community of filmmakers who are going through a period of crisis and who need to redefine their road maps. FPFAC is an initiative taken by people from among the film making community. They understand the problems of the industry and work sincerely towards evolving realistic strategies. They differentiate themselves from similar ventures of FICCI and CII. For instance, FICCI Frames 2004 was considered by many as a disappointing exercise. The convention failed to provide a meaningful sense of direction to the industry. It was hijacked by the Broadcasters and finally degenerated into blatant lobbying effort by them to promote their interests with TRAI and other government bodies. This was not the way to promote the entertainment and film industry.
Going by the last year's example, India International Film Convention 2003, we can be assured that India International Film Convention 2004 will have much to offer to the participants and they will benefit greatly by it.
