Short Film Competition Line Up of 42nd IFFI, Goa, announced

The 42nd International Film Festival of India, Goa, (IFFI, Goa) and the Short Film Centre of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has announced its International Competition and Vasudha Awards line up. Out of 216 entries from across the world, 20 films have been selected by a committee consisting of prominent film makers like Shri. Supriyo Sen (Kolkata), Shri. Gulshan Sachdeva (Mumbai), Shri. Gautam Saikia (Assam), Shri. Guru Thakur (Mumbai), Shri. Yashwant Bhalkar (Kolhapur), Ms. Meenacshi Martins (Goa), Shri. Dinesh Bhosle (Goa), and Shri. Mahesh Rane (Goa). Shri. Ramesh Gauns and Environmentalist from Goa was also in the committee.

Vasudha Awards Line Up: - “Save Earth” by Prakash Mishra (india), “Pachilakkkoodu” (My Home is Green) by Sajan Sindhu(india), “A Pestering Journey” by K.R. Manoj (india), “Battle for Survival” by Naresh Bedi (india).

International Competition Line Up: - “Khule Darwaaze” (Open Doors) by Ashish Pandey (india), “Raag Sarkari” (Bureacracy Sonata) by Vinay Shukla (india), “Another Planet” by Smita Bhide (India), “Unearthed” by Karan Vazirani(india), “Man of the Match” by Hitesh Kewalya (india), “Save the Girl Child” by Sunil H. About ESG: Established by the Government of Goa in 2004, as the nodal agency in the organization of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the main objective of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) is to frame an entertainment policy to help cultivate Goa into a world-class international entertainment nerve center of the country. Successfully hosting the 35th, 36th ,37th, 38th, 39th ,40th and 41st International Film Festival of India to a glare of media and fanfare, the objective of the Entertainment Society of Goa is to work towards building global visibility and branding. Mooted by the Govt of Goa and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Delhi, based on Goa’s world reputation as a tourist destination, with its unique flavour of European lifestyle co-existing with multi-cultural ethnic sensibilities, Goa is now the permanent venue host for the Film Festival.

About IFFI Goa, 2011: Since 1952, India has hosted 41 International Film Festivals, both competitive and non-competitive. These festivals became annual events from 1975 onwards. The Festival is being organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.
