All anti-Gujarat forces and Modi haters unite on Fanaa issue

Teesta Setalwad, Mahesh Bhatt, Shabana Aazmi, Javed Akhtar, Medha Patkar, the NBA, Justice Arijit Pasayat, and now Aaamir Khan – all of them are rabid Modi haters. They have been carrying on an unrelenting ‘Hate & Destroy Modi’ campaign without much success.

More they hate Modi, his popularity soars among his people. Today, he has become the symbol of Gujarat’s progress, prosperity, and pride. An attack on him will be construed as an attack on Gujarat’s self-respect.

Now, we know Aaamir’s support to the NBA’s cause was not as innocent as it looked.

Aamir hates Modi. A lot of enlightened and high profile Muslims outside the state of Gujarat nurse a kind of a personal and psychopathological grouse against him. Modi has replaced Bal Thakare as their prime hate figure. They want Modi dead. By God’s grace neither their silent curses nor their court cases and ISI’s proxy-killers have succeeded in eliminating Modi thus far. Aamir had issued a number of anti-Modi statements in the past and had openly welcomed the US Government’s decision to deny Visa to Modi. In fact, he eloquently praised George Bush for it and was even critical of the Ministry of External Affairs and Manmohan Singh for their formal diplomatic protest over the Visa denial.

The latest developments on Fanaa issue confirm that Aaamir has an anti-Modi, anti-Gujarat, and anti-Hindutva mindset. He is playing politics, probably prompted by his hard-core secularist and Islamist friends. He is using the media to stir up anti-BJP and anti-Modi feelings, without rhyme or reason. Gujarat Congress is also opposed to the release of his film in the state but Aamir deliberately avoids mentioning this.

And Gujaratis are not opposed to Fanaa, the film. They are opposing Aamir Khan. Fanaa is irrelevant here. They are not willing to watch any of his films. They have understood Aamir’s politics very well and they are getting back at him in the only way they can – the democratic way. What is Aamir’s problem now? He should be thankful that zealots among generally peace loving Gujaratis are not chasing him with grenades, AK 57 rifles, and Mousers, the usual means and methods used by Jihadi terrorists, and underworld goons.

The Freedom of creative expression is not the concern of Aamir and Mahesh Bhatt and the rest of the film industry consisting of nincompoops like Pahalaj Nihlani. Had it been so, the film industry should have been up in arms over the official ban on The Da Vinci Code in the Congress ruled Indian states in the name of maintaining law & order. This is a disastrous development that will certainly deal a severe body blow to the art, craft, and business of cinema in the long run. It had never happened before. It is obviously an attempt by the Congress governments to appease their supreme leader and her co-religionists. And look at the excuse the Punjab, Mijoram, and Andhra Pradesh CMs have used to ban the screening of this film! Law & Order problem! Bull shit! Will someone tell us how many Christians live in the states of Andhra and Punjab?

Going by such examples, the Modi government will be more than justified to ban all Aamir Khan films to maintain law and order in the state and also to please the people of Gujarat, who are greater in numbers than the entire Christian population of India. But Modi chose not to resort to such appeasement tactics.

Why does Aamir keep using high-sounding words and phrases like ‘democracy’ and ‘freedom of choice’ all the time? He says people are living in the fear of the BJP. The distributors and cinema hall owners of Gujarat have effectively nailed his lies. They do not want to show his film. It is their democratic right to do or not to do business with someone. They cannot be forced to show Fanaa, even by Justice Pasayat. But who knows, this good friend of Teesta Setalwad and Mahesh Bhatt may even book the Gujarat distributors for contempt of court and send them behind bars for not showing Fanaa. Judges like Pasayat can do anything that suits their political and personal agenda.

Aamir is trying to placate the entire film fraternity in his personal crusade against Modi, Gujarat, and the BJP. He is dishonest. He is trying to project himself as an underdog who is being hounded by the mighty BJP. This is not true. He has been doing injustice to Modi and the people of Gujarat by his prejudiced comments and false statements. He has been freely painting his opponents black using his clout with the media. Modi has not even responded to Aamir’s calumnious diatribe so far. Aamir is also hiding his real motives behind his support to the NBA. It was not the concern of the displaced poor that took him all the way to Delhi to express his solidarity with Medha Patkar and the NBA. There was a definite Modi and Gujarat angle to it.

And the way he refuses to even consider a point of view that is contrary to his own with obnoxiously arrogant hard headedness comes as a big surprise. He is certainly not a reasonable person. He is as cunning and clever as the secularists, the jihadis, the padres, and the Islamists. How can such a person be a great actor?

Gujaratis must get as hard headed as Aamir. They should stick to their guns and take this whole thing as a personal affront. They should ensure that Aamir Khan and the likes of Mahesh Bhatt and Teesta Setalwad become non-entities in Gujarat and wherever else the community lives. They should reject all the products endorsed by Aamir and turn the heat on. They must do it for the sake of their self-respect and to teach an apt lesson to these media savvy jackasses.
