This government of ungrateful poiliticians has done ITSELF an honour by awarding Dadasaheb Phalke Puraskar to Dev Saab.

All the TV news channels are showing the footage of old Dev Anand films. It is such a heart warming experience. He remains the unsurpassed and unsurpassable romantic hero of Indian films. None of the actors of today can recreate his magic. He is spontaneous, he is childlike and a darling.

This Dadasaheb Phalke award is not a result of intense lobbying. Dev Saab is not a lobbyist. He has never believed in hanging around the guys in the establishment. It was much below his dignity. He has survived by his genuine commitment to the art and craft of film making. Men like Dev Saab are rarely seen these days who carry on with the courage of their conviction, unmindful of what the whole world says or thinks about them.

When the President of India honours him towards the end of December, the whole country will be giving him a standing ovation. He truly deserves it because he is truly great.
