When it comes to the crux, Vajpayee will be the first to jump out of the bus and run for cover

Vajpayee has sensed something, a probable defeat, and he is running for cover. His interviews on various News channels were defeatist. He did not even show the willingness to fight back. He was trying to project his image as someone who is honest and unbiased and above party politics.

He has always been a coward and has been more concerned about his own ass and image. This time he has really done the BJP in. Those who went by the opinion polls and made him the central point of the elections by talking all kinds of useless and usual shit about the Congress and Sonia, have dug their own as well as the BJP's grave. Vajpayee has betrayed them again.

Now one knows why he has not really been working on his speeches and carrying on with his boring long winding monologues in one election meeting after another. He should thank the News channels that they don't talk about his forgetfulness and his constant referring to notes in his speeches. He is so pathetic. The BJP should use him sparingly. Let him have twelve hours of sleep and speak in a few election meetings every day.
 

He has demoralized the BJP cadre. No sensible leader will ever pronounce on a TV channel that his party may not do all that well. This is unthinkable at election time. Why did he do that? He allowed the VHP and the RSS and a host of other Hindu leaders to be attacked and derided by sundry secularists and media men. He did not even defend his own Chief Minister. He has alienated the core constituency of the BJP to project a pacifist image. He may also have done this to soften the blows of the Congress about the Lucknow fiasco that was all the doing of his cohort Lalji Tandon. He had an opportunity to tell the whole wide world about his party and its policies. He did not say a single word. He was busy praising Sonia and Indira. He did not try to correct misperceptions about his party. On the contrary he reinforced them.

Now what will Pramod Mahajan do? Can he revive the development plank at this late stage of elections? One cannot be sure. He has worked on a single strategy. Pit Vajpayee against Sonia and elections will be in his pockets. He has destroyed the feel good and has walked into the Congress trap. He has introduced an element of cynical negativism. How can he talk about hope now? He is not talking about it anyway. 90% of his speeches are about the Congress and Sonia and Sharad Pawar. He does not even counter the Congress propaganda effectively. Same is the case with Sushma Swaraj.

And what all those media managers of the BJP have been doing all these days? They never had a strategy. Though many ignorant fools in the media felt otherwise. Had they had some strategy, all the leaders of the party would have been speaking in unison. That has not been the case. One gets a feeling that the BJP leaders themselves do not have faith in 'India Shining' campaign. None of them talk about Foreign Exchange Reserves any more. They don't even talk about how there has not been any scam in the stock market during this regime. The suave and sophisticated ministers like Arun Shourie and Jaswant Singh have been absent from poll duty. They should have handled the media. Instead of them we have tongue tied old guard sitting on media panels, parroting praises of Vajpayee.

In fact, it is Vajpayee who has killed the fighting spirit of the BJP cadre . Things are so bad that ministers in the government do not entrust the party workers the task of running their campaign. It is their family members who are doing the needful.

Khullamkhulla is certain now that the NDA is going to loose these elections very badly if these guys do not fight back. Vajpayee is not the one who will lead the charge. He has never done it. He will not do it now as he does not have anything at stake in these elections. He knows he will not get the Nobel now. He was actually working on his retirement plan. That is why he would keep praising Sonia every now and then. He knows he is not capable of carrying on any more. He is a dead horse. However hard you flog him, he won't move. He also knew in the heart of his heart that the state elections in Gujarat, MP, Chateesgarh, and Rajasthan were won in spite of him. He had not liked the idea much though.

The RSS and the VHP must be aware of this. The days of a bitter struggle are ahead for them. And this time the Congress, the church,  and the Communists are going to go for the jugular.
